No Going BackMy name is Juan Carlos. I'm married and have two marvelous children. I was saved at the age of seven and I had the privilege of growing up in a Christian home. With my family I was involved in many Christian groups. We were looking for an experience which was more real and genuine with Christ each time. This led us from one Christian group to another. Looking back, I can say that we were serious Christians. In 1983 I finished high school and the pastor of the group where we met encouraged me to study Theology at a Bible school in the United States. That resulted in my studying four years in the Portland Bible College. I graduated with a degree in Theology. Nevertheless, my expectations were not fully satisfied. I felt that although I had gained some knowledge of the Bible, I was empty inside. Upon returning to Columbia I decided it was better to enter the University to pursue a career. Meanwhile, we continued going from one Christian group to another. Finally in 1991 I heard from a brother in my city of another brother from San Pedro, Honduras who had been invited to speak on the topic of the church. We met in an apartment in an informal manner, and it was there that I heard for the first time in my life phrases concerning Christ and the church (Eph. 5:32), such as: the church is the expression of Christ, Christ is the content of the church, and Christ is our life and the church is our living. The speaking of this Honduran brother was inspiring, captivating and full of vitality. I realized through his speaking that the Body of Christ needs an actual, practical expression on the earth. This expression is the local church. Upon coming to the local church, I had the certainty that I had finally come home. Since then, my experience of Christ has become deeper, more real, and richer. Since then, I have ceased my wandering! Juan Carlos Viana | Back to List |
